Three Retrogrades, One Season: What Saturn, Venus & Mercury Have in Store This Fall

As the leaves begin to change and the days grow shorter, fall 2026 invites us into a meaningful season of reflection. Three significant planetary retrogrades will shape the final months of the year: Saturn, Venus, and Mercury.

According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, Saturn retrograde runs from July 26 through December 10, 2026. Venus retrograde follows from October 3 through November 14, while Mercury retrograde takes place from October 24 through November 13.

That means that beginning October 24, all three retrogrades will overlap.

For some people, planetary retrogrades are simply interesting natural rhythms to observe. For others, they offer a helpful language for understanding seasons of change, review, and renewal. Whatever your personal perspective, this period can be approached with calm, wisdom, prayer, and intention.

Retrograde does not mean that something bad is guaranteed to happen. Astronomically, retrograde motion is an apparent backward movement caused by the changing positions and speeds of planets as viewed from Earth. In astrology, these periods are traditionally associated with slowing down, revisiting unfinished matters, and looking inward.

Think of this season as an invitation:

“Pause before you push. Review before you rebuild. Realign before you move forward.”

A Season of Reflection and Renewal

Nature itself reminds us that growth is not always about constant forward motion. Trees release what they no longer need. Gardens rest. The earth prepares for a new season beneath the surface.

In a similar way, fall’s retrogrades can encourage you to examine your responsibilities, relationships, communication, finances, and long-term goals.

This does not have to conflict with a faith-centered life. You can observe the rhythms of nature while keeping your spiritual foundation in God. Use this season as a time to pray, seek wisdom, listen carefully, and make choices that reflect your values and purpose.

The planets do not determine your future. Your choices, character, faith, and willingness to grow still matter. Retrogrades can simply serve as reminders to become more attentive to what is happening within and around you.

Saturn Retrograde: Responsibility, Boundaries, and Purpose

July 26–December 10, 2026

Saturn is often connected with responsibility, discipline, structure, boundaries, and long-term goals. Its retrograde period can be viewed as a time to review the foundations of your life.

Are your commitments still aligned with your purpose? Are you carrying responsibilities that no longer belong to you? Have you been avoiding an important decision? Are your daily habits supporting the future you say you want?

Saturn retrograde in Aries adds themes of courage, independence, leadership, and personal responsibility. This is a helpful season to consider how you take initiative without taking on more than you can reasonably carry.

You may benefit from:

  • Revisiting long-term goals.

  • Strengthening personal and professional boundaries.

  • Completing unfinished responsibilities.

  • Releasing blame and taking ownership of your next step.

  • Creating more structure around your time, finances, and energy.

Saturn’s message is simple: build a foundation that can support the life you are praying and working toward.

Venus Retrograde: Relationships, Values, and Self-Worth

October 3–November 14, 2026

Venus is traditionally associated with love, relationships, beauty, finances, values, and self-worth. During this retrograde, Venus moves through Scorpio and Libra, bringing attention to emotional honesty, trust, fairness, and balance.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac’s Venus retrograde guide describes this period as one that may prompt people to reconsider what and whom they value.

You may find yourself reflecting on questions such as:

  • Are my relationships balanced and respectful?

  • Am I communicating my needs clearly?

  • Have I confused peace with people-pleasing?

  • Do my financial habits reflect my true priorities?

  • What does healthy love look like in this season of my life?

This is not a time to panic about relationships. Instead, it can be an opportunity to practice honesty, forgiveness, wisdom, and healthy boundaries.

Venus retrograde may also inspire you to reconnect with old creative interests. Return to the music, writing, art, fashion, or hobbies that once brought you joy. Sometimes renewal begins by remembering what made your spirit feel alive.

Mercury Retrograde: Communication, Decisions, and Flexibility

October 24–November 13, 2026

Mercury retrograde is the period most people recognize. Mercury is traditionally linked with communication, travel, technology, learning, contracts, and decision-making.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac encourages readers to use this time for extra care, patience, and review. Mercury retrograde does not mean that every email will disappear or every travel plan will fall apart. It simply suggests that slowing down and double-checking details may be helpful.

As Mercury moves through Scorpio, conversations may become more thoughtful and emotionally revealing. You may be invited to look beneath the surface rather than accepting the first explanation you hear.

During this time, consider:

  • Reading important messages before sending them.

  • Confirming appointments and travel details.

  • Backing up important files.

  • Allowing extra time for delays.

  • Revisiting unfinished writing or creative projects.

  • Listening carefully before responding.

  • Avoiding decisions made solely from fear or frustration.

Mercury retrograde can be an excellent time to revise, edit, reread, and reconnect. For writers and creatives, it may offer valuable space to refine ideas before sharing them with the world.

When All Three Retrogrades Overlap

Starting October 24, Saturn, Venus, and Mercury will be retrograde at the same time. This overlap brings together three major areas of life:

  • Saturn: What needs structure?

  • Venus: What needs healing or rebalancing?

  • Mercury: What needs clarification?

This can feel like a powerful invitation to pause before making major changes. Review your responsibilities. Reconsider your priorities. Clarify your communication. Pay attention to the relationships and commitments that either support your growth or continually drain your peace.

You do not have to stop living during a retrograde. Life continues. Important appointments, work responsibilities, family needs, and necessary decisions cannot always wait for a particular planetary cycle.

Instead, move with greater awareness. Ask questions. Read the details. Give yourself room to think. Pray for discernment. Seek wise counsel when needed.
