Why I Scrapped the AI Art and Started Over: The Story Behind the New Princess Gia Meets the Mean Monster
There came a moment when I had to be honest with myself.
The first version of Princess Gia Meets the Mean Monster was created with AI-generated artwork. At first, I was excited to see the story taking shape. But the more I looked at the pages, the more I felt that something important was missing.
Princess Gia is not just a character to me. She was inspired by my own granddaughter. This story carries love, family, courage, and the tender emotions children experience while learning how to understand themselves and others.
The artwork needed to carry that same heart.
So I made a difficult decision. I scrapped the original art and started over.
It was the harder path. It took more time, more work, and more investment. But I knew this book deserved real hands, real creativity, and a real human artist who could bring Princess Gia’s world to life with care.
That decision led to the brand-new 2nd edition of Princess Gia Meets the Mean Monster, with every page and the cover hand-drawn by a real human illustrator. There is no AI art anywhere in this edition.

A NEW EDITION WITH A DEEPER HEART
This relaunch means so much to me because the final book feels more personal, more expressive, and more connected to the message I wanted to share from the beginning.
Aaron The Artist brought warmth and imagination to each page. His illustrations help children see Princess Gia’s courage, wonder, frustration, and compassion. The pictures invite young readers into the story while giving parents, teachers, and caregivers meaningful opportunities to talk about emotions.
This is what I hoped for.
A book that feels beautiful in a child’s hands.
A story that opens the door to important conversations.
A reminder that kindness can be courageous.
WHEN BIG FEELINGS FEEL VERY BIG
Princess Gia is courageous, loyal, and full of wonder. But even a brave princess can feel afraid, frustrated, or overwhelmed.
In the story, a mean monster snatches away a priceless gift from Gia’s grandmother. That moment brings up understandable feelings. Gia could respond with anger. She could decide that the monster does not deserve kindness.
Instead, she learns that meeting anger with more anger does not always heal the situation. Kindness, patience, and compromise can build a bridge between even the unlikeliest characters.
That message matters because children are learning how to handle big feelings every day.
They may not yet have the words for disappointment. They may struggle to explain fear. They may react strongly when they feel ignored, confused, or overwhelmed.
A story gives them a safe place to begin.
As you read, you can ask:
“How do you think Gia feels?”
“Have you ever felt that way?”
“What could help when you feel angry or overwhelmed?”
“How did kindness change the situation?”
These simple conversations can help children name their emotions instead of feeling controlled by them. They can learn that feelings are real, but feelings do not have to decide every action.
A STORY FOR HOMES, CLASSROOMS, AND LIBRARIES
Princess Gia Meets the Mean Monster is a faith-friendly children’s picture book for reading ages baby to 8 years. With 95 pages, it is designed for family reading, classroom storytime, library programs, and meaningful conversations between children and trusted adults.
Whether you are a parent, grandparent, teacher, librarian, or caregiver, you can use this story to encourage courage, empathy, patience, and emotional growth.
The goal is not to tell children that they should never feel angry or afraid. The goal is to help them understand those feelings and discover healthy ways to move through them.
Children need stories that remind them:
“You can feel deeply and still choose kindness.”
That is one of the lessons I wanted Princess Gia to carry.

INSPIRED BY LOVE
Princess Gia began with inspiration from my granddaughter. I wanted to create a character who could help children see their own courage and goodness, even during difficult moments.
Gia is not perfect. She faces challenges. She has strong feelings. But she continues learning, growing, and choosing a better way forward.
That is what makes her special.
Children do not need stories that pretend everything is easy. They need stories that show them they can face hard moments with support, wisdom, faith, and hope.
The new second edition reflects that vision more fully. Every hand-drawn page gives the story a sense of care that I believe children and families can feel.
